This fall I found Elf on The Shelf fabric online and decided to make some </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Christmas projects using it. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
My quilt club exchanges two 12.5inch Christmas blocks at our December meeting. I used the elf fabric in my blocks. A year ago I took a log cabin block class at <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Quilted-Hearts-Quilting/242393622486476">Quilted Hearts Quilting</a> in Millington. We learned how to use <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Grids-Finished-Blocks-CGRJAW2/dp/B0096Q8WWM/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1416681202&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=creative+grids+log+cabin+trim+tool+ruler">Creative Grids Log Cabin Trim Tool Two,</a> which I used in my blocks.</div>

The walls are a light gray and the towels and rug are a rust color. I needed something new to decorate the walls. I found a kit for one of <a href="http://www.laundrybasketquilts.com/blog/">Edyta</a> Sitar's Seasonal Silhouette's <a href="http://www.inbetweenstitchesblog.com/2014/01/block-of-month-seasonal-silhouettes.html">blocks</a> at the Front Porch in Frankenmuth. I used the block as a base for the wall hanging adding a gray batik border and rust flange.
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z3eFgxxj8iM/VDLEZyTXI9I/AAAAAAAAD4Y/j7S2JcB_BRE/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z3eFgxxj8iM/VDLEZyTXI9I/AAAAAAAAD4Y/j7S2JcB_BRE/s1600/007.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added gray and orange butterfly appliques in place of the butterflies that came in the kit. Also stitched in stamens with orange holographic thread and used orange rhinestones for the anther's in the lilies.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L2eE-uQR16I/VDLEsUBn4uI/AAAAAAAAD4o/02u1_NYWjhU/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L2eE-uQR16I/VDLEsUBn4uI/AAAAAAAAD4o/02u1_NYWjhU/s1600/008.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The bicycle's spokes and rims and the basket were painted with silver ink.</div>
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SfbSyAo5Px4/VCLNSVaWnMI/AAAAAAAAD3w/sPlQ3uvZo0Q/s1600/010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SfbSyAo5Px4/VCLNSVaWnMI/AAAAAAAAD3w/sPlQ3uvZo0Q/s1600/010.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I found the idea for the patchwork top on Pinterest and followed this <a href="http://www.texasfreckles.com/2010/12/do-good-stitches-december-blocks.html">link.</a> The quilting on the hot pads is a pumpkin copied from a coloring page.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iEDjnz7t4Z8/VCLNNKWht7I/AAAAAAAAD3o/fVR0QzrzqMQ/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iEDjnz7t4Z8/VCLNNKWht7I/AAAAAAAAD3o/fVR0QzrzqMQ/s1600/005.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The back of the hot pads came from my stash, mice peaking out from behind pumpkins.</div>

The spot next to the phone needed a new wall hanging; the bunnies were looking out of season as fall approaches. This is the new fall decoration.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-H0stT4j3MX0/U_9jNEOt-EI/AAAAAAAAD3Y/eJjNW-eClHk/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-H0stT4j3MX0/U_9jNEOt-EI/AAAAAAAAD3Y/eJjNW-eClHk/s1600/002.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The vines are not smoothly quilted but maybe with more practice my free motion quilting will improve.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I tries something new with the binding, I added the orange batik flange. Two types of flanges were discussed online, I chose to go with the flange being sewn on first rather than combining it in the binding.</div>
<br />

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is my favorite children's book. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I bought again it for one of my great-nieces, Skylar.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Over 30 years ago, I bought this pattern to make a toy doll for my daughter, Angie. Since I've used the pattern to make the <a href="http://themomoo.blogspot.com/2011/11/yoyo-dog.html">dog</a> for a great-niece, Audrey. I used it again to make a caterpillar to go with the book.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I found all the fabric I needed in my stash.</div>
<br />

Using up some of my stash and purchasing some dog and cat fabric, I made a disappearing nine-patch baby quilt for charity.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E0p44mjfupw/U3ZUy-uze1I/AAAAAAAAD0M/ujIVe6s1k5U/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E0p44mjfupw/U3ZUy-uze1I/AAAAAAAAD0M/ujIVe6s1k5U/s1600/001.JPG" height="622" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The nine-patch blocks had to be arranged in special order so that the completed blocks would be in the same direction. A tutorial <a href="http://obsessivelystitching.blogspot.com/2010/05/disappearing-nine.html">here</a> shows how to make the I Spy Disappearing Nine-Patch.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The backing is made up of leftover cat and dog fabric from the front.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-f6DM8jcjre0/U3ZU3geThpI/AAAAAAAAD0c/S0u7h9YexPk/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-f6DM8jcjre0/U3ZU3geThpI/AAAAAAAAD0c/S0u7h9YexPk/s1600/004.JPG" height="622" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Striped fabric was used to make a more interesting binding.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The Millington Quilt Club gives quilts to fire victims in the area. Faith, who manages the quilts, asked members to make 10 inch string quilt blocks using brights. I had no problem finding some bright scraps in my stash.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lPk-5hcwfGc/U1-i7vZZWfI/AAAAAAAADz0/Do5jNxhfhHQ/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lPk-5hcwfGc/U1-i7vZZWfI/AAAAAAAADz0/Do5jNxhfhHQ/s1600/001.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was fun arranging the blocks. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dVdoreQqDdU/U1-jCVvs0SI/AAAAAAAADz8/mVD1aiwOfHA/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dVdoreQqDdU/U1-jCVvs0SI/AAAAAAAADz8/mVD1aiwOfHA/s1600/003.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Considering, I didn't make even a small dent in my collection of brights and the blocks were fun to make; I should make a string quilt for myself. I think I will put the same color in the center of each block. </div>

I made desserts to take to both gatherings. The first was sugar packed and the second was sugar free.<br />

I'm a member of an art quilt group in Saginaw. Last fall we each received this piece of fabric to use in making an art quilt.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-u6Y-3j8wZDg/UyyVv_WeuRI/AAAAAAAADxM/Q7jE-aROlnE/s1600/challenge+fabric.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-u6Y-3j8wZDg/UyyVv_WeuRI/AAAAAAAADxM/Q7jE-aROlnE/s1600/challenge+fabric.jpg" height="640" width="474" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my finished project.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4FjKN9B42-c/UyyVhxN4GDI/AAAAAAAADxE/XetxsZdVxts/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4FjKN9B42-c/UyyVhxN4GDI/AAAAAAAADxE/XetxsZdVxts/s1600/004.JPG" height="640" width="578" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My first step was deciding I wanted to use the fabric to make a big flower. In the Burpee seed catalog I found a flower that was both pink and green, so I decided to make a Queen Red Lime Zinnia. I was going to put a seed packet on the quilt. I ordered the zinnia seeds from Burpee so I could copy it onto fabric...well when I got my order, the seeds were in a plain wrapper, no photo on the front. I called Burpee and was told the seeds were not sold in stores so I wouldn't be able to get a packet with a photo. Luckily I had an old seed package in my gardening supplies. I scanned it and changed the wording and added the photo from the Burpee catalog. So my seed packet is one of a kind.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-afJTW2l875U/UyyWbZvYbSI/AAAAAAAADxU/KzTbolvCVM8/s1600/020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-afJTW2l875U/UyyWbZvYbSI/AAAAAAAADxU/KzTbolvCVM8/s1600/020.JPG" height="640" width="472" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The leaves on the quilt have embroidered veins and are three dimensional.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bvbU9X51raw/UyyWrQkJJVI/AAAAAAAADxc/2kd7DHsSC5k/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bvbU9X51raw/UyyWrQkJJVI/AAAAAAAADxc/2kd7DHsSC5k/s1600/008.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The center of the zinnia had hand sewn beads and a border of ric rac.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bMk7GuwlzzM/UyyW51GlL_I/AAAAAAAADxo/tQCKO5J4J6M/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bMk7GuwlzzM/UyyW51GlL_I/AAAAAAAADxo/tQCKO5J4J6M/s1600/006.JPG" height="606" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For Christmas my daughter, Angela, gave me a set of Dye-na Flow ink/paints. I used the green ink to make the center row of petals greener. In the middle row of petals, I used the inks to tone down the orange stripe in the fabric. The fabric used in the outside row was colored with the magenta ink. The inks were also used to add color to the ric rac in the center of the flower.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-R9PwidzFeCA/UyyXFZaV2YI/AAAAAAAADxs/WCuX4ifaORg/s1600/012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-R9PwidzFeCA/UyyXFZaV2YI/AAAAAAAADxs/WCuX4ifaORg/s1600/012.JPG" height="588" width="640" /></a></div>

I decided to make her a quilt to help her warm and make her room more homey. I had some scraps from a quilt I made Ang and Austin, <a href="http://themomoo.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html">http://themomoo.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html</a> So I used the same pattern to make a little smaller version of their quilt.<br />

Winter seems to be dragging on forever and Easter is such a long way away. I decided to brighten up the dining room wall with a happy shamrock wall hanging.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HgX4xD-eMqk/UwOghzOv9fI/AAAAAAAADu8/tsBQXF3PtPI/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HgX4xD-eMqk/UwOghzOv9fI/AAAAAAAADu8/tsBQXF3PtPI/s1600/004.JPG" height="640" width="538" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The ladybug has googly eyes and tiny buttons spots.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G3v5X5tCu3E/UwOg_-_MLiI/AAAAAAAADvM/URXh3UxqYCA/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-G3v5X5tCu3E/UwOg_-_MLiI/AAAAAAAADvM/URXh3UxqYCA/s1600/002.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The background is pieced as is the binding. Instead of quilting after appliqueing, I quilted as I sewed on the pieces.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wlZCOaeDuKY/UwOg0lz2gcI/AAAAAAAADvE/zCQaSOQL_gY/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wlZCOaeDuKY/UwOg0lz2gcI/AAAAAAAADvE/zCQaSOQL_gY/s1600/003.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Being snowbound has made me a busy Internet shopper. I found this cute Charming Tails pin and made it into a magnet for the frig.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f73gjdPAjJ4/UwOiwTdzyII/AAAAAAAADvY/aqK6g_gbqL4/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f73gjdPAjJ4/UwOiwTdzyII/AAAAAAAADvY/aqK6g_gbqL4/s1600/005.JPG" height="400" width="253" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Also added a St. Patrick's mouse to my Charming Tails collection.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iutAXLrNP-k/UwOiyaYhNbI/AAAAAAAADvo/6mP3qh3F5CE/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iutAXLrNP-k/UwOiyaYhNbI/AAAAAAAADvo/6mP3qh3F5CE/s1600/007.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Lastly, found two tiny mice for the top of the bulletin board by the phone. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The Millington Quilt Club has decided to make tote bags for foster children. The kids</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
often carry their belonging from home to home in paper bags or cardboard boxes. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Following Jenny's advice, instead of buying more fabric, I went through my stash and found some fabric and trims to make this tote.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wLgh8V4z-lo/UvI4jj0digI/AAAAAAAADuc/vGVnHM8rQuk/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wLgh8V4z-lo/UvI4jj0digI/AAAAAAAADuc/vGVnHM8rQuk/s1600/008.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The tote is large, about 13 inches high and 22 inches wide. One side has a zipper pocket and the other a plain pocket.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pkYbldJAikQ/UvI4rt_7lKI/AAAAAAAADus/TnQcOyu0KIA/s1600/015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pkYbldJAikQ/UvI4rt_7lKI/AAAAAAAADus/TnQcOyu0KIA/s1600/015.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The top has zippered flaps.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-puj8RmPFZK8/UvI4cTtY3LI/AAAAAAAADuU/OV_bDf7XNqc/s1600/017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-puj8RmPFZK8/UvI4cTtY3LI/AAAAAAAADuU/OV_bDf7XNqc/s1600/017.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There are pockets all around the inside. One large side pocket has a zipper.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Zvhgu3lE_M0/UvI4pLLFAiI/AAAAAAAADuk/SRDXDM67TBA/s1600/018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Zvhgu3lE_M0/UvI4pLLFAiI/AAAAAAAADuk/SRDXDM67TBA/s1600/018.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Thanks to Julie and Carole, for putting together a pattern that was easy to work with.Momoohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12920922692160682481noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6363626730701422303.post-79920122223377076882014-01-04T07:56:00.000-05:002014-01-04T07:56:17.117-05:00Deer for a Dear My great-niece, Audrey loves deer. Her dad is a deer hunter and she helps him bait the deer and pretends to be a hunter also. For Christmas, I made her a deer doll.<br />

For Christmas, I made my favorite RN a tote bag. My niece, Kristin, is a hospice nurse. I used a panel with nurse saying in the patchwork. </div>

For Christmas, I made my daughters rug mugs with crayon embroidery. Jenny's has a hedgehog holding flowers.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Angela's mug rug has a bunny sledding in a teacup.</div>

I used some of the penguin fabric in my last post to make mug rugs for Christmas presents for my friends.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3ZD5nIiKmbQ/Uqo2TXZc4oI/AAAAAAAADrs/fxy6UE_Ryx0/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3ZD5nIiKmbQ/Uqo2TXZc4oI/AAAAAAAADrs/fxy6UE_Ryx0/s640/001.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HgLlH-N2-HY/Uqo2xKfnBvI/AAAAAAAADsE/x1SLKT4OlOg/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HgLlH-N2-HY/Uqo2xKfnBvI/AAAAAAAADsE/x1SLKT4OlOg/s640/005.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also made penguin hot pads for a Secret Pal at TOPS and myself.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IAFH_8C48rc/Uqo2bsZa8-I/AAAAAAAADr0/nfwyMEpQi84/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IAFH_8C48rc/Uqo2bsZa8-I/AAAAAAAADr0/nfwyMEpQi84/s640/006.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-svJi7VGjEXA/Uqo2pXVpruI/AAAAAAAADr8/kKSHoeyrOAU/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-svJi7VGjEXA/Uqo2pXVpruI/AAAAAAAADr8/kKSHoeyrOAU/s640/007.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We exchanged 12.5 Christmas blocks at the Millington Quilt Club Christmas party yesterday. I received two beautiful blocks. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Faith made this one with cardinals in the center block. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-s30IkJkClys/Uqo5tLEJHRI/AAAAAAAADsQ/38DldIqi3PQ/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-s30IkJkClys/Uqo5tLEJHRI/AAAAAAAADsQ/38DldIqi3PQ/s640/002.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Tammy made this pretty block.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xSc2R68JpFg/Uqo5wUTX7AI/AAAAAAAADsc/qy_93ieirPs/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xSc2R68JpFg/Uqo5wUTX7AI/AAAAAAAADsc/qy_93ieirPs/s640/001.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The blocks are signed and dated. I usually make an extra block each year....I have 15 blocks. Eventually, I will have enough blocks to make a Christmas quilt.</div>

I made myself a table runner for the holidays.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zImKsDAbl-M/UqXLdPNnzvI/AAAAAAAADq4/Xa5WJQE7qI0/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="204" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zImKsDAbl-M/UqXLdPNnzvI/AAAAAAAADq4/Xa5WJQE7qI0/s640/004.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The trees in the center were paper pieced.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xEGs9icQS-Q/UqXL4ENqklI/AAAAAAAADrA/DNAerqX9Qyg/s1600/010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xEGs9icQS-Q/UqXL4ENqklI/AAAAAAAADrA/DNAerqX9Qyg/s640/010.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Candy cane fabric was used for the backing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sqX8moiyI-M/UqXLR_5XeWI/AAAAAAAADqw/ecMZwZztBD0/s1600/015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="448" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sqX8moiyI-M/UqXLR_5XeWI/AAAAAAAADqw/ecMZwZztBD0/s640/015.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I made a trivet to coordinate with the table runner. My peppermint candies didn't turn out as round as I would have liked, better luck next time :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-27rg9HVm8JA/UqXMAAb5NUI/AAAAAAAADrI/ua9PUtkuqhk/s1600/017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-27rg9HVm8JA/UqXMAAb5NUI/AAAAAAAADrI/ua9PUtkuqhk/s640/017.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
More of the penguin fabric was used in the trivet backing.</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-k_yZUDvq6YM/UqIU7knqjCI/AAAAAAAADqY/0_nd9_z_G8k/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-k_yZUDvq6YM/UqIU7knqjCI/AAAAAAAADqY/0_nd9_z_G8k/s640/007.JPG" width="562" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I only had two sizes of ribbon. The pin I purchased had three sizes, if I make these again next year I will look for another size ribbon to make the tree fuller.</div>

Earlier this month, I made Jenny some hot pads for her birthday . <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ksc79ecYj68/Uo1kjy-nqnI/AAAAAAAADpw/oz8rVP79Zx4/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ksc79ecYj68/Uo1kjy-nqnI/AAAAAAAADpw/oz8rVP79Zx4/s640/005.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
At the Millington Quilt Club, we exchange 12.5inch Christmas blocks. I made two for the exchange and one for myself.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m0ghmqgfb7g/Uo1k6FyB03I/AAAAAAAADqI/JhInAZ25HOQ/s1600/022.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m0ghmqgfb7g/Uo1k6FyB03I/AAAAAAAADqI/JhInAZ25HOQ/s640/022.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The stitching was done by hand, the center hexagon was fussy cut and embellished. I added red rhinestones for the berries, black for the snowman's eyes and buttons and AB clear rhinestones for some of the snowflakes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cF2B793oNuc/Uo1k4np6QqI/AAAAAAAADqA/NFVYfwcnQFc/s1600/024.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cF2B793oNuc/Uo1k4np6QqI/AAAAAAAADqA/NFVYfwcnQFc/s640/024.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
My birthday was earlier this month and my daughters gave me this beautiful fordite ring. Fordite is a Michigan gem :) According to Wikipedia "<strong>Fordite</strong>, also known as <b>Detroit agate</b>, is old <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automobile" title="Automobile">automobile</a> paint which has hardened sufficiently to be cut and polished.<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fordite#cite_note-1"><span>[</span>1<span>]</span></a> It was formed from the build up of layers of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enamel_paint" title="Enamel paint">enamel paint</a> slag on tracks and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pallet" title="Pallet">skids</a> on which cars were hand <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spray_painting" title="Spray painting">spray-painted</a> (a now automated process), which have been <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oven#Industrial.2C_scientific.2C_and_artisanal_use" title="Oven">baked</a> numerous times."<br />

When I saw this pattern, I knew I had to make a fall door hanging.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gf86a60MZZM/UlhB_BTQpvI/AAAAAAAADpA/veHkdCGZJqk/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gf86a60MZZM/UlhB_BTQpvI/AAAAAAAADpA/veHkdCGZJqk/s400/008.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Looking at the pattern in a catalog, I didn't realize there wouldn't be a binding and the door hanging would have a unfinished edge. This is my finished project.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bJQh9ZKQvpY/UlhCkKCCR_I/AAAAAAAADpg/CAbyz0Ge5m8/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bJQh9ZKQvpY/UlhCkKCCR_I/AAAAAAAADpg/CAbyz0Ge5m8/s640/001.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Instead of fabric berries, I used red rhinestones and red cabochons.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UDJVp222qRY/UlhCgbEfOCI/AAAAAAAADpY/8gzMIlxXIvw/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UDJVp222qRY/UlhCgbEfOCI/AAAAAAAADpY/8gzMIlxXIvw/s640/002.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used a variety of markers and crayons to draw veins and shade the leaves.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5t4dLWWdiTI/UlhCMBGCKhI/AAAAAAAADpI/QvNwzsisXX8/s1600/004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5t4dLWWdiTI/UlhCMBGCKhI/AAAAAAAADpI/QvNwzsisXX8/s640/004.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is our front door with it's new quilt.</div>
<br />

It was pieced with batiks and I really like it. I bought the special ruler and fabric and finally 8 months later, I have a completed throw.
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1Vp0Z-WJrQ0/Ujd0X8jpe7I/AAAAAAAADow/HhNW8pbg-H4/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1Vp0Z-WJrQ0/Ujd0X8jpe7I/AAAAAAAADow/HhNW8pbg-H4/s640/001.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also used batiks in my quilt, perhaps a little brighter than the stores choices.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LyCLc26_8mQ/Ujd0GECpNPI/AAAAAAAADog/qj3HGk9Us7c/s1600/002+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LyCLc26_8mQ/Ujd0GECpNPI/AAAAAAAADog/qj3HGk9Us7c/s640/002+(2).jpg" width="484" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My daughter Angela and her husband Austin are going to be getting the quilt. Angela requested a blue back. I used a variety of scraps to bind the throw. The quilter and I decided on a modern design since Angela and Austin are both artists.</div>
<br />
