Rice Pudding

I haven't found a new recipe that turned out great in quite awhile. I decide to make some rice pudding with the rice leftover from yesterday's supper. My old recipe bakes in a pan of water for almost an hour in the oven, it's good but a little dry. I looked on Allrecipes.com for ideas and found this recipe for Creamy Rice Pudding.  I think it may be the best rice pudding I've ever eaten :)

Valentine Door Hanging

After we replaced our front door, I didn't want to scratch the new finish with a metal wreath hanger. We also have a new storm door leaving only a few inches between the doors. I decide to decorate the front door using a small clear plastic Command hook to hold a mini quilt.

The Valentine door hanging is a crazy quilt.

I decorated it using lace, rick rack, crystals.sequins, buttons and beads.

Some of the sections were embellished with hand embroidery.

Sleeping Bags For My New Toys

Blogger seems to have changed how I am able to upload my photos since my last post. It's taken me over an hour to figure a way to move 4 photos from a file on my computer to this post.  If the photos had been on a phone or other device I think I could have moved them without a hassle.  Once I found a backdoor way to get the photos, it took over 5 minutes each to upload.  I must be doing something wrong.

For Christmas,Tom got me a new camera which will fit nicely in my purse.  My camera expert, Ang, suggested I should keep it covered so the back wouldn't get scratched and nothing would poke into the lens.  I went into my stash and found some cute critter fabric scraps and made a cover for the camera.

I lined the case with flannel and used Velcro for a clasp.

I was very blessed this Christmas, I also received an ipad from Jenny, Ang, and Austin.  I purchased a plastic cover to protect it but thought the ipad should have a quilted cover for times when I leave home.

My friend, Pat had given me some hand dyed batiks for my birthday, which  I used  to make the cover.

Homemade Christmas Presents

Two of my sister-in-laws have baby granddaughters.  I made covers for small photo albums which they can use to show off my cute great-nieces.

I crazy quilted the fronts.  This album will hold Skylar's photos.

For the family gift exchange, I made a table runner and hot pads and purchased a small bowl and plate that coordinated with them.

I made a number of sets of hot pads, this is a pair I made for Jenny.

Ho, Ho, Ho

This is a new Santa wall hanging I using wool felt and cotton.

The background, Santa and tree are wool.  The applique is done by hand.  Santa's pompom and beard are a furry fabric.

Beads and gold rickrack trim the tree.  The night sky is sparkling with crystals.

Christmas Block Exchange

At the Millington Quilt Club Christmas meeting, we exchange 12.5 inch Christmas quilt blocks. I received two beautiful blocks in the exchange. In the first exchange, I was lucky to get this nativity scene appliqued by Vivian.

In the second exchange, I got another beautiful block, this one made by Sydney ...so many triangles meeting perfectly!

Each year I make an extra block for myself. This is the paper pieced Santa I made for the exchange.

Oven Mitts

I made my friends oven mitts for Christmas.

Amy has a basset hound so I used some Christmas dog print in her mitt.

Linda likes ladybugs.  I had bought a cute fat quarter this summer with her in mind, so I used that in her oven mitt.

Last year in our Christmas gift exchange I received four coordinating fat quarters from Elaine.  I used them to make four more oven mitts for Cheryl, Pat, Elaine and Dena.

I practiced stippling on the last four mitts.  The pattern was altered as I went.  Of course every one's hand is a different size, so I probably still don't have a perfect pattern.
