Insects 2

The marigolds talked to me, wanted to be photographed.

Insects 1

It is a bright and sunny day, so I couldn't resist going out and taking some photos of my flowers. I ended up getting a lot of insects too. Since I can only upload a couple of pictures at a time, I will do 2 postings.

Rag Quilt

I made a rag quilt for a freind's birthday. I'm pleased with it, but wonder if I should have put Xs in all the squares. I've had conflicting advice. At JoAnn Fabric I was told that since I have flannel in the middle layer, it won't shift...no need to quilt. I joined the Millington Quilt group last week. Some of the ladies had made rag quilts for charity, they thought the squares should be quilted. I ran out of fabric and had to go back to Ebay to buy some more coordinating fabric. That's why the top and bottom rows are a little different.

Longevity

We attended my Uncle Max's 100th birthday party today. It was real nice to get together with my family for something other than a funeral. We rarely see each other; my wedding(34 years ago) may have been the last time we all were together to celebrate. The pictures are of my Uncle Max, Aunt Gertie and Aunt Romaine. Aunt Gertie and Aunt Romaine are younger-98 and 96. All three live alone in their own homes! They have a little trouble hearing but are mentally sharp. When I visited my Aunt Romaine a year ago, she showed me her crafts, talked about watching the Carol Duval Show and was going to bake cookies using a recipe she had gotten from the Martha Stewart Show. My cousins and I wonder if we will be around for more than a hundred years. My aunt told me today that her grandfather lived till over 100.

New Camera

We got a new camera, one of the real small ones to carry in a pocket. I have to get used to not having a viewfinder. I don't particularly like using the sceen. When the sun is shining I can't see the picture at all and usually I can't tell what faces are looking like. I tested the camera on some flowers, worked fairly well on zumming in on the bee. We went to the Frankenmuth Autofest last weekend. The camera was a lot easier to carry than my regular one. I had to take a picture of the blue camero because it looked a lot like my first car, except I didn't have a spoiler on the back. After we got married Tom painted white stripes on the car so the picture is fairly correct.

Banana Blueberry Bread

I used my mom's recipe to make some banana blueberry bread. The recipe has been folded many times and my mom's writing has faded. If I were a scrapbooker, I would do something to preserve the original recipe for sentimental reasons. Using the recipe made me miss my mom and think about other recipes I should make. She always made lemon meringue and pecan pie for the holidays. I have never made either but think I should try them.
