Summer Storm

Tonight we were having a loud thunderstorm with a lot of lightening. The storm was moving to the east so the sun was going down and shining in the west, while it was storming to the east. We had a full rainbow to the east, but I was unable to get a good picture. When I went to put the camera away, I noticed the western sky was also beautiful.

Cheeseburger Festival

Yesterday we drove to the Cheeseburger Festival in Caseville. When Vassar had it's Riverfest Car Show and craft sale, I saw a neat tree with a base like a shepherds hook has. Because it was about 8 foot long and wouldn't fit in the car I didn't buy it. The crafter was going to be at Caseville's craft show...the reason for the trip. I think the tree will look great in my flower bed in the back of the house. I will be able to hang things on it, like a finch feeder, suet cakes, etc. We drove through Caseville and stopped and had a cheeseburger. All the street's light poles and some buildings had pink flamingos handing from them. The town was very crowded and people seemed to be having fun.

Woodward Cruise 2

Jeff met us at the Eaton display in the park on the corner of Woodward and 13 Mile. He had the use of a hydrogen powered car for the weekend, so he had driven it to the Cruise. He took us for a ride in the car down Woodward. The outside of the car was plain and looked like the Chevy Equinox, but a couple of cars pulled along side to ask about how it was powered. I guess there was a small emblem that indicated the car was a concept vehicle. During our ride we passed the U of M solar car. The driver must have been hot and cramped, the car didn't look too comfortable. After cruising for a few miles Jeff dropped us at our car. It was hot and we were very grateful not to have the long walk back to Birmingham.

Woodward Cruise 1

We went to the Woodward Cruise today. We drove the Grand National through Pontiac to Birmingham and then parked the car. We walked from Birmingham to 13 Mile Road. The weather was great. Watching the classic old cars was neat but some of the offbeat cars were even neater. Since I can only leave a limited number of photos in one posting, I will post twice and only put some of the more interesting cars in this post. The one car is covered with car emblems, another has 3 stuffed deer on it, and the one with the steer horns was called 'Boss Hog" and had a horn that sound like the one from the show Dukes of Hazzard.

Table linens

Today is my friend Linda's birthday. She has decorated her kitchen with a birdhouse theme, so I made her some hot pads, a trivet and place mats for a present. My sister in law gave me the idea for the place mats. Kathryn had made some for her kitchen and used narrower strips of fabric. I think I like the narrow strips better but I want to show off the fabric's print, so my strips are wider.

Rose City

We went to Bob and Chris's cabin on Island Lake near Rose City. The scenery was gorgeous. I couldn't help but take pictures as we rode in their pontoon boat. The water was so clear that we could see the bottom of the lake most of the time. I was really wowed by how the water reflected the landscape.
