This is my last project. I purchased the kit when Jenny first moved to Colorado five years ago. I love the picture, but didn't know how to finish it correctly. The shop in Colorado had just meandered over the pieces after they were ironed onto the top using a bonding agent. This summer when my sister in law took me to a shop near her, I saw similar projects. There they had just quilted by sewing around the pieces. That was a method I thought I could handle.
The pumpkin was pieced but the rest of the pieces were just cut out and ironed on with Heat and Bond. The pattern, Harvesting Dreams by Mount Redoubt Design, suggested the wall hanging should be embellished with Swarovski crystals. The night sky is dotted with light siam crystals.
The fancy border has sun crystals.
The cute mouse sleeping in a leaf sold me on buying the kit. His blanket is trimmed with jonquil crystals
I usually like to make up my own design, maybe using a pattern or two for ideas. However, I wouldn't be able to draw anything this detailed. I'm not sold on this method of applique. I think using a satin stitch, blanket stitch or hand applique looks a lot nicer but the pieces were too small to use those methods.
