100th Birthday!

Yesterday was my aunt's 100th birthday. This is the front of the birthday card I made.

Here Aunt Gertie, on the left, is sitting with her sister who is 98. They are both amazing women. They still live in their own homes and are very sharp.

I made my aunt a lap quilt for her birthday.

There are two pillow panels in the center.

The backing on the quilt is quieter, a print with birds.

Our quilt club has been working on lap quilts to donate to the veterans' hospital. I made another quilt very similar to the one above for the veterans.

Aw that is sweet. Both aunts look so wonderful. I want to reach out and hug them both. My favorite aunt (we called her auntie) lived to 100. She lived in PA and I saw her a year before she died on her 99th birthday. We had her birthday party in her senior's high rise group room. It was really sweet. It was so incredibly hard to say goodbye to her that day when we left because it was the last time I knew I would see her alive. I'm so glad you're showing these ladies the love and attention they deserve. I have such a soft spot in my heart for these old gals.

Adrie sure looks like her mother! I bet your aunt was thrilled with the quilt and card. What a special niece you are to make the card and quilt.
